One of our favourite native shrubs - and one of the first we planted, oh so long ago and far away. Upright, multi-stemmed large shrub or small tree, which is variously called Serviceberry, June berry, Saskatoon berry or Shadblow. White flowers in early spring. Purple-black, late summer berries are edible and make a great pie, if you can keep the birds off them! If you don't see birds in your yard, this will bring them. Brilliant orange-red fall colour. Wind tolerant. (3-gal)
