Clusters of brilliant tangerine-orange flowers bloom over a long period in midsummer. A first-rate native for hot, dry areas. Good cut or dried flower. Deadheading will prolong bloom period. Green pods in autumn are filled with white silky seeds. Larval food of the Monarch butterfly. Very showy. This one makes many gardeners forget their silly prejudice against the colour orange and/or native plants.
